Here I am starting the series of posts, which explain about the various HTTP Status codes.

Here is the complete list of all the HTTP status codes. This Status code is retured from your web server when our browser made a request to the web server.

Based on the availibility of the content it will return the appropriate HTTP status codes to the browser.

For Example: When web server return the 304 Not Modified Status which instruct browser to load the content from the cache as the content in web sever and content in cache are same.

In this post I have covered the only list of the status codes, but in next post of this series I will provide the detailed explanation about each status code.

Main Categories of the HTTP Status Codes:

  1. Informational 1xx
  2. Successful 2xx
  3. Redirection 3xx
  4. Client Error 4xx
  5. Server Error 5xx

Informational 1xx

  • 100 Continue
  • 101 Switching Protocols

Successful 2xx

  • 200 OK
  • 201 Created
  • 202 Accepted
  • 203 Non-Authoritative Information
  • 204 No Content
  • 205 Reset Content
  • 206 Partial Content

Redirection 3xx

  • 300 Multiple Choices
  • 302 Found
  • 303 See Other
  • 304 Not Modified
  • 305 Use Proxy
  • 306 (Unused)

Client Error 4xx

  • 400 Bad Request
  • 401 Unauthorized
  • 402 Payment Required
  • 403 Forbidden
  • 404 Not Found
  • 405 Method Not Allowed
  • 406 Not Acceptable
  • 407 Proxy Authentication Required
  • 408 Request Timeout
  • 409 Conflict
  • 410 Gone
  • 411 Length Required
  • 412 Precondition Failed
